About Three Brothers Moving — Our Washington Family

It all started in 2013 when Marcus Ellis stamped his initials on a single Washington truck; from one stubborn rule — a flat price in writing — he built Three Brothers Moving into a full DC crew running its own trucks.

Tell us the rooms, the stairs and the parking, and the flat number comes back in writing.

Flat rate, nothing added later

Blankets, shrink wrap and tape are in the number. Nothing is re-priced once the truck is loaded.

Packing, full or partial

Dish barrels for kitchens, wardrobe cartons for closets, crates for glass and stone tops.

One crew lead, start to finish

The same person who surveys your home runs the load-out and the walkthrough at the end.

I’m Marcus Ellis, and Three Brothers spells out my own initials — the three of us. I opened this company in Washington back in 2013 because I’d watched too many neighbors get stung when the meter kept ticking long after the truck was loaded. I built the opposite: a price you read, sign, and never have to fight over.

One truck grew into a crew

The first day was a lone truck, a rented bay, and one rule — quote it flat, put it in writing, and stand behind it whether the building has a freight elevator or five flights of stairs. We’re now a full DC outfit of 19, roughly 15 on trucks daily, and I still set the board most mornings.

The faces at your door

Grace Han runs the office — schedules, condo COIs, and billing all pass through her. Kevin Ng works the daily truck board. On the crew, Hector Peralta heads walk-up and narrow-stair jobs, Danny Cordero takes high-rise condo boards plus full-pack, and Malik Osei drives the long-haul I-95 lane to Philadelphia, New York, and Boston.

Founded 2013, Washington, DC
Authority Licensed & insured DC mover, US DOT and MC authority
Crew My trucks, W-2 uniformed, background-checked, family-run
Coverage DC & the DMV, plus I-95 interstate runs
  • Every job’s flat rate is signed before loading begins — walk-up, condo, humid August, or snowy January
  • The crew that loads you in Washington is the crew that unloads you — no subcontractor ever touches your things
  • We hold our own commercial insurance and handle claims directly

Family-owned since day one — the person answering the phone and the crew lead in your building both report to me, so nothing slips into a gap between a call center and a stranger.

Meet the owner

Marcus Ellis — Owner of Three Brothers Moving

I’m Marcus, and Three Brothers is exactly what it sounds like — me and my two younger brothers. We bought one truck in 2013, parked it in Northeast DC, and started on a single rule: give people a real written number up front instead of letting an hourly meter run away on move day. One truck turned into a yard full of them, but the rule never moved. The price is signed before we load, every mover who walks into your building is one of our own uniformed W-2 crew, and when you call it is one of us or our office — never a switchboard three states away. Years of DC work taught this crew the things that actually decide a move here: row-house stairs that turn hard at the landing, condo towers that want a certificate of insurance and a booked freight elevator, permit-only blocks where the truck has to be arranged days ahead, humid summers and the odd ice week. That is the bar on every job we take.

How it actually goes

See How We Work

  1. 1

Free quote — about 10 minutes

We handle: We ask room count, stairs or elevator, and where the truck can legally park, then send a flat written price.

What helps most: Have your building’s COI rules and elevator hours handy — it makes the number exact instead of a guess.

  2. 2

We lock the date, permits and elevator

We handle: We reserve the freight elevator and pull a DDOT temporary no-parking permit so the truck sits at your door, not three blocks away.

What helps most: Confirm your move-out and move-in windows with both buildings, then tell us the tighter one.

  3. 3

    Pack & protect

We handle: Blanket-wrap on every piece of furniture, shrink-wrap on upholstery, beds and table legs disassembled and bagged with their hardware.

What helps most: Label boxes by the room they go to, and keep documents, keys and small valuables with you, not on the truck.

  4. 4

Load, drive, place & walk through

We handle: The same crew that loads is the crew that unloads — furniture goes where you point, beds get rebuilt, packing debris leaves with us.

What helps most: Do the final walkthrough with the crew lead before we pull away, while everything can still be adjusted for free.
