Written quote the same day

Tell us the rooms, the stairs and the parking, and the flat number comes back in writing.

Flat rate, nothing added later

Blankets, shrink wrap and tape are in the number. Nothing is re-priced once the truck is loaded.

Packing, full or partial

Dish barrels for kitchens, wardrobe cartons for closets, crates for glass and stone tops.

One crew lead, start to finish

The same person who surveys your home runs the load-out and the walkthrough at the end.

Clean, secure short-term storage for the gap between homes — a delayed closing, a staggered move-in, or a renovation. Your things go out on our truck and come back on it.

How storage-in-transit works

  • We pad and load everything the same way we would for a normal move.
  • Your goods sit in a secure, inventoried space — not loose on a shared floor.
  • When you’re ready, the same crew redelivers and places it all.

What it costs

Storage is billed by the month on the volume you actually use, with the in and out moves quoted flat up front. We’ll price the whole thing — move out, store, move in — in one written number.

What the Flat Rate Already Covers

Each line below is part of every job as standard — none of it shows up as an extra charge when the final bill arrives.

  • The same $155 and $215 hourly rates on the way into storage and back out
  • Move labor and the warehouse hold rolled into a single written price
  • Made for stalled board approvals, pushed closings, and jumped start dates
  • Kevin tracking every date your load enters and leaves our warehouse
  • After-hours and weekend pickups and deliveries at the usual rate
  • Full-value per-load coverage staying live through the entire hold
  • Pads, dollies, and wrap on both the outbound and the return trip
  • No self-storage unit to sign for or haul your things across DC to

What Washington Customers Say

★★★★★

“We stored our household with them for about six weeks between closings. The warehouse was clean, everything came back exactly as it went in, and the storage was folded into the same flat price. No surprise bill.”

Common Questions

Are you a moving company?
Yes — Three Brothers Moving is a fully licensed and insured Washington, DC moving company running our own trucks and uniformed crew, with US DOT and MC authority for interstate work.
My condo board approval is dragging — how long can you hold everything?
A typical hold lasts somewhere between two and six weeks, tied to a board decision or the gap between leases. When approval drags well beyond that, Kevin sets up an extended hold with you one on one — you won't be stuck hunting for a fallback unit at the last minute.
My new job in Boston got pushed and my DC lease has run out — can you take everything today?
We can, and this is a call we get constantly along the I-95 relocation lanes. You move out on the last day of your lease, we warehouse the household, and delivery happens whenever your Boston place opens. There's no fixed end date — you tell us when to bring it.
Are the storage days invoiced apart from the moving work?
They aren't split out. When you book, the truck labor and the days in the warehouse are quoted together as one price. That means there's no second invoice from a storage company appearing later on a due date of its own to blindside you.
Where does my household actually sit, and how secure is it?
Everything rests padded and stacked in the warehouse we operate ourselves in Washington — not dropped into a rented cell along some public storage aisle. Because Kevin records each load coming in and going out, its exact spot in the building is always accounted for.
Does the coverage stay active during the days in storage?
It stays active start to finish. The per-load protection, which can reach the declared value of your shipment, runs straight through the warehouse days as well. Nothing lapses in the span between the outbound truck, the hold, and the return delivery to your new door.
How it actually goes

See How We Work

  1. 1

Free quote — about 10 minutes

We handle: We ask room count, stairs or elevator, and where the truck can legally park, then send a flat written price.

What helps most: Have your building’s COI rules and elevator hours handy — it makes the number exact instead of a guess.

  2. 2

We lock the date, permits and elevator

We handle: We reserve the freight elevator and pull a DDOT temporary no-parking permit so the truck sits at your door, not three blocks away.

What helps most: Confirm your move-out and move-in windows with both buildings, then tell us the tighter one.

  3. 3

    Pack & protect

We handle: Blanket-wrap on every piece of furniture, shrink-wrap on upholstery, beds and table legs disassembled and bagged with their hardware.

What helps most: Label boxes by the room they go to, and keep documents, keys and small valuables with you, not on the truck.

  4. 4

Load, drive, place & walk through

We handle: The same crew that loads is the crew that unloads — furniture goes where you point, beds get rebuilt, packing debris leaves with us.

What helps most: Do the final walkthrough with the crew lead before we pull away, while everything can still be adjusted for free.
