Tell us the rooms, the stairs and the parking, and the flat number comes back in writing.

Flat rate, nothing added later

Blankets, shrink wrap and tape are in the number. Nothing is re-priced once the truck is loaded.

Packing, full or partial

Dish barrels for kitchens, wardrobe cartons for closets, crates for glass and stone tops.

One crew lead, start to finish

The same person who surveys your home runs the load-out and the walkthrough at the end.

Apartment, condo and high-rise moves built around the one thing that decides the day here: the building. We handle the paperwork and the elevator so your move-in goes smoothly.

What your building will ask for

  • A certificate of insurance on file before we start — we send it straight to management.
  • A reserved freight-elevator window; we stage the load so none of it is wasted.
  • A loading-zone or DDOT parking permit when the truck can’t sit at the door.

What an apartment move runs

The job Written flat rate
Studio, elevator building $430–$590
1-bed walk-up $620–$860
2-bed prewar, no elevator $1,050–$1,440
3-bed house $1,510–$2,050

What the Flat Rate Already Covers

Each line below is part of every job as standard — none of it shows up as an extra charge when the final bill arrives.

  • A Certificate of Insurance sent to your board or management at no cost
  • Two-mover rate of $155 or three-mover rate of $215, folded into one signed flat figure
  • Flights and reserved elevator windows folded into the number before we arrive
  • Movers at home in both historic walk-ups and Navy Yard glass towers
  • Couches and mattresses padded at the unit door to keep summer grime off
  • Moving pads, dollies, and stretch-wrap counted inside the price
  • The signed figure delivered to you comfortably ahead of the date
  • Per-load protection that can climb to the full declared value of your shipment

What Washington Customers Say

★★★★★

“Booked them for a fourth-floor walk-up with no elevator and honestly expected a disaster. Three guys, done in under four hours, not a scuff on the stairwell. Worth every dollar.”

“Danny and his crew packed our whole kitchen — dishes, glassware, the works — the evening before the move. Everything arrived without a chip. If you are on the fence about the packing service, get it.”

“Moved us down to Philadelphia and kept the same crew the entire way. Malik handled the parking permit on both ends so the truck sat right at the door. Painless.”

Common Questions

Are you a moving company?
Yes — Three Brothers Moving is a fully licensed and insured Washington, DC moving company running our own trucks and uniformed crew, with US DOT and MC authority for interstate work.
My condo board won't let movers in without a Certificate of Insurance — can you provide one?
Yes, and free of charge. Send Grace your management or board contact and she issues the certificate, usually within a day, carrying the exact coverage amounts and additional-insured language your Navy Yard or Petworth building requires to clear the crew.
My tower only gives a two-hour freight-elevator window — is that enough?
It generally is once we plan for it. Tell Danny the reserved window and he sizes the crew to work inside it, staging cartons at the unit door so the elevator time goes to moving, not waiting. Grace books the slot with your building ahead of the date.
I'm on a fourth-floor walk-up with no elevator — does the climb cost extra?
The climb is baked into the price you sign. Danny walks the flights and landings during the estimate and factors that carry in, so a Petworth fourth-floor haul is settled before the truck shows. Stairs are priced once, up front — never billed again on the day itself.
It's the middle of a humid summer — how do you keep my furniture clean on the way down?
We wrap sofas, mattresses, and open pieces from the unit door to the truck, so the humidity and street grime never settle into the fabric on the stairwell trip. Everything comes off the truck at the new place as clean as it left the old one.
Does a weekend move-out cost more than one on a weekday?
It costs the same. Our rate doesn't shift by day of the week, so a Saturday condo turnover and a midweek one are billed identically. Whichever day your building opens the freight elevator, no weekend premium lands on the invoice.
How it actually goes

See How We Work

  1. 1

Free quote — about 10 minutes

We handle: We ask room count, stairs or elevator, and where the truck can legally park, then send a flat written price.

What helps most: Have your building’s COI rules and elevator hours handy — it makes the number exact instead of a guess.

  2. 2

We lock the date, permits and elevator

We handle: We reserve the freight elevator and pull a DDOT temporary no-parking permit so the truck sits at your door, not three blocks away.

What helps most: Confirm your move-out and move-in windows with both buildings, then tell us the tighter one.

  3. 3

    Pack & protect

We handle: Blanket-wrap on every piece of furniture, shrink-wrap on upholstery, beds and table legs disassembled and bagged with their hardware.

What helps most: Label boxes by the room they go to, and keep documents, keys and small valuables with you, not on the truck.

  4. 4

Load, drive, place & walk through

We handle: The same crew that loads is the crew that unloads — furniture goes where you point, beds get rebuilt, packing debris leaves with us.

What helps most: Do the final walkthrough with the crew lead before we pull away, while everything can still be adjusted for free.
