Full-Service Packing in Washington & DC

Hand us the entire apartment or only the rooms you assign — supplies are built into the price, breakables ride in fitted crates, and the pack gets its own date so it never runs up against truck day. Run by Marcus Ellis since 2013.

Written quote the same day

Tell us the rooms, the stairs and the parking, and the flat number comes back in writing.

Flat rate, nothing added later

Blankets, shrink wrap and tape are in the number. Nothing is re-priced once the truck is loaded.

Packing, full or partial

Dish barrels for kitchens, wardrobe cartons for closets, crates for glass and stone tops.

One crew lead, start to finish

The same person who surveys your home runs the load-out and the walkthrough at the end.

Full or partial packing with our own materials, plus custom crates for the pieces you worry about. Pack the whole home or just the kitchen and the fragile stuff — your call.

What we pack

  • Dish barrels and cell kits for the kitchen, wardrobe boxes for the closets.
  • Custom crating for mirrors, glass tops, art and TVs.
  • Beds, tables and cribs taken apart and bagged with their own hardware.

Packing, priced simply

Partial packing is charged by the crew hour at the same $155 / $215 rate; a full-home pack is quoted flat after we see the place, so there are no surprises on the day. Boxes and tape are included either way.

What the Flat Rate Already Covers

Each line below is part of every job as standard — none of it shows up as an extra charge when the final bill arrives.

  • Packers at $155 for a pair or $215 for a trio, folded into the flat total
  • Cartons, wrapping paper, tape, and wardrobe boxes supplied at no side charge
  • Tell us which rooms to handle and the quote covers only those
  • Made-to-measure crates for glass, dishware, and prewar built-ins
  • Bulky furniture padded indoors before it ever meets the stairwell
  • Danny running point on the breakable and heavy-item rooms
  • The pack booked for the evening or day ahead of truck arrival
  • Load protection reaching the declared value of your shipment from the moment we handle your things

“Moved us from DC up to New York and the same crew that packed the truck in Petworth carried it into our new place in Brooklyn. Malik kept us posted the whole drive. Nothing broken, price was exactly what we signed.”

Common Questions

Are you a moving company?
Yes — Three Brothers Moving is a fully licensed and insured Washington, DC moving company running our own trucks and uniformed crew, with US DOT and MC authority for interstate work.
Can you pack just the kitchen and the breakables and leave the rest to me?
Of course — half-and-half packs are ordinary for us. Mark the kitchen, the china hutch, and the home office, and the quote lists nothing beyond them. Whatever you'd rather box yourself, from the closets to the bookshelves, stays with you and off the bill.
Do I have to stock up on cartons and tape ahead of the packers?
Skip the supply run entirely. Everything — cartons, paper, tape, wardrobe boxes — rides in on our truck and is already priced into your quote. You won't be counting rolls of tape or dashing to the store when a room needs three more boxes. We cover the materials.
My building has a tight prewar stairwell — how do you get big pieces down without damage?
Danny's crew wraps and pads oversized furniture inside the unit before it reaches the stairs, then walks it down slowly around each landing. On a narrow Washington walk-up that padding is what keeps a dresser and the stairwell walls both unmarked.
Does an after-hours or Sunday pack raise the rate?
It doesn't move at all. The rate is the same at seven in the evening, on a Saturday, or on a Wednesday afternoon. Scheduling the pack around your job hours or the family's routine keeps the number precisely where it started.
Is it possible to pack the day ahead rather than on moving morning?
That's how most full packs go. Danny seals the apartment on a weeknight, which leaves truck day itself unhurried, and spreading the job over two dates doesn't change the flat figure on your signed agreement one bit.
How it actually goes

See How We Work

  1. 1

Free quote — about 10 minutes

We handle: We ask room count, stairs or elevator, and where the truck can legally park, then send a flat written price.

What helps most: Have your building’s COI rules and elevator hours handy — it makes the number exact instead of a guess.

  2. 2

We lock the date, permits and elevator

We handle: We reserve the freight elevator and pull a DDOT temporary no-parking permit so the truck sits at your door, not three blocks away.

What helps most: Confirm your move-out and move-in windows with both buildings, then tell us the tighter one.

  3. 3

    Pack & protect

We handle: Blanket-wrap on every piece of furniture, shrink-wrap on upholstery, beds and table legs disassembled and bagged with their hardware.

What helps most: Label boxes by the room they go to, and keep documents, keys and small valuables with you, not on the truck.

  4. 4

Load, drive, place & walk through

We handle: The same crew that loads is the crew that unloads — furniture goes where you point, beds get rebuilt, packing debris leaves with us.

What helps most: Do the final walkthrough with the crew lead before we pull away, while everything can still be adjusted for free.
